Toumba participate in “Open House”

PAOK FC and Toumba Stadium participate for the second time in Open House, an important international event that showcases and highlights architecture.

16.11.2016

The public can visit Toumba Stadium on 15 and 16 November, tour all areas of PAOK’s historic home ground that was designed by architect Minas Trebelas and learn about the architectural details of the venue and its interior spaces, recently renovated by “Nomen Architects” firm.

Site visits include the exterior of the venue as well as the renovated interior spaces and the pitch. Trained volunteers will serve as tour guides. They will register all visitors, record their details and a priority line for security reasons. Afterwards they will lead the visitors in groups to the specific areas of the stadium.

Toumba Stadium will be open to the public on Sunday 20 November from 11.00 until 16.00.

What is Open House

The “Open House” concept was born in London in 1992 and has expanded to many cities around the world, inviting people to explore and understand the value of architecture. Once every year, public and private buildings open their gates to the public for free and the city becomes a huge museum, showcasing its architecture.

Thessaloniki has already participated four times in the Open House project. The 5th OPEN HOUSE Thessaloniki has been scheduled for 19-20 November 2016. Visitors will get the opportunity to tour 85 buildings and sites of architectural merit. Twenty-eight of these sites are included in the program for the first time. A total of 450 volunteers will guide you inside and around public buildings, private apartments, detached houses, schools, offices, clinics, hospitals, theatres, churches, museums, monuments, catacombs… Participation is free of charge and no reservations are required.
