Koulouris earns Regency Best Goal of September award

Efthymis Koulouris’s belter against Asteras Tripolis in “Theodoros Karaiskakis” Stadium was voted as Regency Casino Best Goal of September by PAOK fans on the poll conducted through paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App.

12.10.2016

It was PAOK’s first away test in the Super League, in a ground where they didn’t fare well in previous seasons. But… trends are meant to be broken and the “Double-Headed Eagle” celebrated a huge three-pointer in Tripolis against local Asteras.

Efthymis Koulouris was undoubtedly the man of the match. In his first start for PAOK since returning from his loan to Anorthosis, he proved Vladan Ivić right. He scored a brace and sealed victory with an outstanding performance of much running, strong duels and participation in the team’s attacking game.

The highlight of the evening was his second goal. Garry Rodrigues crossed from the flanks and PAOK’s striker beat the rival goalkeeper with an exquisite volley. This goal turned our poll for Regency Casino Best Goal of September to a mere formality, as Koulouris prevailed with 61,76% of the vote.

Stefanos Athanasiadis’s winning header in the Czech Republic against FC Slovan Liberec got second place, while Rodrigues’s fine finish following our captain’s back-heeled assist against Panetolikos ended up in third place.

Let us add that this goal of Koulouris earned him also the Best Goal award in the contest organized by Super League, Nova and PSAP, while also collecting the award for MVP of Super League matchday 4 and the Fans’ Man of the Match accolade by those who voted on paokfc.gr.
