U17s prevail 2-1 over Xanthi [photos]
PAOK U17s defeated Xanthi easier than the 2-1 scoreline suggests, on the opening day of the Super League. The troops of Vasilis Mittas and Vasilis Kanaras got their first three-pointer, as did PAS Giannina and Veria.
PAOK broke the deadlock in the 25th minute from the spot, Gaitanidis converting the penalty he was awarded. The “Double-Headed Eagle” could have increased their lead but wasted several chances. Xanthi equalized in the 65th minute, but PAOK got their winner six minutes from time through Tsigaras, following a fine collective combination and an assist by Doumtsis.
