FC Dinamo Tbilisi – PAOK: Mixed zone
Here is what Crespo, Leovac and Biseswar said after the final whistle of the first-leg encounter between FC Dinamo Tbilisi and PAOK for the UEFA Europa League play-offs.
José Ángel Crespo, scorer of PAOK’s second goal, spoke about the importance of this victory and the practice on dead-ball situations during trainings:
«I am very happy with the goal, but I am happier for the team. We got an important result for a smooth ride towards the next stage. There are 90 more minutes ahead of us and we focus on that match. We take specific positions in set pieces –sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn’t«.
Diego Biseswar, who came from the bench to create the third goal and show his potential, said:
«We are not through yet. There is a second leg ahead and we must play just like we did in the second half today. Our rivals made it a bit tough for us in the first half. We play for each other and that’s the most important. PAOK have 17-20 players who can play and contribute. I am now at 70%. I need games in order to acquire rhythm. I wanted to show that I can play and help. My aim is to provide more assists and score goals. I hope that my performance today will mark the start of a fine relation with the team. FC Dinamo made it tough for us in the first 40 minutes. Afterwards they got tired. We played well, scored twice from set pieces and sealed the match by culminating a counterattack«.
As for Marin Leovac, he spoke about the team’s… awakening after the interval and insisted that PAOK have many new players who need time to blend:
«In the first half we played poorly and were lucky to take the lead with a set piece. In the second half, we functioned better, as our coach told us the right words during half-time. We then went on to score two goals and had more opportunities for a bigger-margin victory. At half-time, we understood what we had to do. I believe that PAOK have a fine side this season, there are good and experienced players in the roster, but we need time to blend in order to show what we can do on the pitch «.
