PAOK FC statement
Statement-warning issued by PAOK FC before the start of the new season:
«A few weeks before the start of the new league, it is sad to realize that there is an ongoing effort to downplay everything that happened in the Greek Cup semi-final in Toumba Stadium, facts that actually signaled the start of favourable developments in football.
Much to our displeasure, the State is taking for ever to look into our denunciation for an alleged plot of specific people to create an environment inviting incidents in that encounter. It enrages us to realize that no interrogations of alleged culprits have taken place and that there is no actual will to eradicate violence from football. There are only criminal investigations and legal actions taken against usual suspects and easy targets.
We will never defend anyone instigating violent incidents in Toumba or elsewhere. We will be even more severe against those proven guilty, but we will also advocate in favour of those innocent parties who are being prosecuted unjustly, without evidence. We are especially strict against anyone who will inflict damage to our club at any level. But we especially object the unequal implementation of the law and the sheltering of criminal gangs who have been looting Greek football but remain at large.
Let us remind everyone that we are still expecting the verdict of the Supreme Court regarding any criminal liability of the Greek Football Federation, of the Central Refereeing Committee and of Andreas Pappas personally in the instigation of incidents. We are also expecting authorities to show relevant sensitivity in prosecuting the instigators and not only the (alleged) perpetrators.
It is our duty to dissolve any shadow of unreliability before the new season kicks off. It is our duty to stop messing with the sentiment of thousands of fans, of all clubs, who have been deprived of proper football for many years«.
