Djalma Campos joins PAOK

PAOK FC announce they have agreed terms with Angola international forward Djalma Campos who will sign a three-year contract.

14.06.2016

Born on 30 May 1987 in Angolan capital Luanda, Djalma Campos was brought up in Portugal where his father, Abel Campos, played for SL Benfica and SC Braga as a winger. PAOK’s new signing started playing football in Lisbon youth teams, before signing for CS Marítimo at the age of 19.

He made his Primeira Liga debut in 2007 and stayed on board for 5 seasons, lining up some excellent performances that attracted the interest of Portugal’s top three clubs. He rejected offers by SL Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal and chose to join FC Porto in May 2011. In his first season with the “dragons”, he scored 3 goals in 19 matches.

In the summer of 2012, he was shipped on loan to Turkish club Kasımpaşa SK. He ended up settling in Turkey until this season. FC Porto didn’t want to let him go as a free agent, so he played on loan at Atiker Konyaspor. Last summer he moved to Gençlerbirliği SK and finished the season with 7 goals and 8 assists in 28 matches –the best season of his career.

He has conjured up 3 goals in 28 caps for Angola and took part in the 2010 and 2012 editions of Africa Cup of Nations.
