U17s prevail over PAS Giannina [photos]
PAOK U17s continued their victorious run in the Super League Northern Group with a 2-1 victory over PAS Giannina in Nei Epivates ground. With four matches remaining until the end of regular season, the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” youngsters have already secured their participation in the Final Four and their top-spot finish.
The players of Angelos Zazopoulos and Pablo García started strongly and took a deserved lead in the 14th minute through Gargalatzidis on an assist by Papathanasiou. The latter converted the penalty earned by Efthymiou in the 29th minute.
PAS Giannina reduced distances ten minutes later, but couldn’t reverse the tide. PAOK regained the reins of the encounter and searched for a third goal. But to no avail. The 2-1 lead remained until the final whistle, after several chances wasted, including two shots on woodwork by Gargalatzidis and Papathanasiou.
