U20s cruise past Panthrakikos
Playing attractive football and never really getting bothered by their opponents, PAOK U20s prevailed 3-1 over Panthrakikos in Kosmio ground and now have 56 points in 23 encounters.
PAOK players stormed out of the blocks, as they usually do, and chased after an early opener. They were rewarded after just 6 minutes of play, when Dimitriadis teed-up Tselepidis with a free-kick and the latter headed the ball home. The home side defended in numbers during the first half, with the “Double-Headed Eagle” claiming possession and creating chances to increase their lead. PAOK were denied a goal in the 26th minute, as the referee ruled that the ball had gone off the pitch before the assist.
After the interval, PAOK went for the kill and achieved it in a span of two minutes. In the 52nd minute, Pantekidis made it 2-0 with a fine long drive, while Mattheou scored a similar goal in the 54th minute providing PAOK with a three-goal cushion. The match opened up, Panthrakikos reduced distances from a set piece in the 63rd minute and that 3-1 was the final scoreline despite some chances wasted by the “Double-Headed Eagle” in the last stretch.
