Born on 30 January 1981, Dimitar Berbatov has become a synonym for goal in his illustrious career. His stats are staggering, with 274 goals in 635 games for his clubs and 48 goals in 78 caps with Bulgaria.

His high-profile career started at the ranks of CSKA Sofia in 1998, conjuring up 38 goals in 65 appearances. He moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in January 2001 and remained there until the summer of 2006 (208 matches – 96 goals). Tottenham Hotspur spent more than 15 million euros to acquire him and he answered with 46 goals in 101 encounters. Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to Manchester United in 2008 for 40 million euros. He stayed there until 2012 (56 goals in 149 matches), before moving to Fulham (54 appearances – 20 goals) and AS Monaco (53 matches and 18 goals in 18 months).
