«Team is all that matters»
Róbert Mak collected his award for Regency Casino Best Goal of December and spoke to media representatives in Toumba Stadium’s mixed zone. Read what he said about his historic goal at Signal Iduna Park, his future at the ranks of the “Double-Headed Eagle” and the team’s current form.
On his award and his historic goal in Germany:
«I feel like it’s been a long time since that game, but that particular moment has been carved on my mind. Scoring such a goal was one of my career’s best moments. It doesn’t happen every year to play against Borussia Dortmund in Germany and win. It was an important match for me and the team. I won’t say that it’s the club’s biggest victory in their history though, as it didn’t lead to qualification. I am very happy for the victory and the goal scored. We are no longer in European competition. We have just the Greek Cup and the Super League and we must focus on that«.
On his collaboration with Mystakidis and the assists he has gotten from him:
«It’s not important who features where. Team is all that matters, and scoring goals. It’s not important who scores and who gives the assist. It’s true that I have scored several goals this season –and they wouldn’t have happened without my teammates’ help«.
On the system recently applied:
«It’s not something new, we have used these tactics again. It’s a good system, we all feel good with it. We haven’t used it against strong rivals yet, so there will be more to see in upcoming weeks. It’s our coach’s choice, we must follow his instructions. We have been playing well actually in the last couple of games, we need to continue on that path«.
On transfer rumours regarding himself:
«I’ve said it already- I am not interested in what is being rumoured or published. My mind is on PAOK alone. I was asked in Slovakia as well and replied that, although it feels nice to know that other teams are interested in me, my club is PAOK and I am focused on PAOK. There are still days to go until the winter transfer window is over though. Nobody knows what can happen, but my mind is on PAOK«.
