Mak writing history…
Usually this accolade goes to an impressive finish or an elaborate individual move. This time round, it’s a team combination and a fine example of football tactics that win the award. Nine passes and an ideal finish sealed PAOK’s winning goal at Dortmund. Rόβερτ Μακ had practically no opponent in the race for Regency Casino Best Goal of December.
PAOK travelled to Germany to play defence and did so impeccably. They were impeccable also in attack, in the play that led to their winner. Textbook passing before Giannis Mystakidis expertly teed up Róbert Mak at the back of Mats Hummels with the Slovakian finishing from an angle. Mak’s goal swept the poll of paokfc.gr for Regency Casino Best Goal of December with 55,56% of the vote.
Second place goes to PAOK’s U20s. On the day of his debut for the “Double-Headed Eagle”, Τasos Dimitriadis scored a beautiful goal, on an assist by Kakko. The youngster’s goal at Volos received 29,28% of the vote, leaving Giorgos Tzavellas’s flawless header against Panionios in third place with 15,03%.
It’s the third individual accolade for Mak this season, as he also won Regency Casino Best Goal in September and October. After the first half of the season, he is the team’s top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions and hopefully he will keep that pace in 2016 as well.
