U15s claim 3rd place in Greek-Turkish Friendship tournament

Two Greek teams participated in the third-place match of the Greek-Turkish Friendship “Kalimerhaba Cup U15”, that concluded on 4 October in Smyrni. PAOK won 1-0 over Atromitos with a strike by Pournaras and claimed third place in the tournament. The pupils of Alexis Alexiadis and Giannis Ampatzidis had produced yet another fine performance in the semi-final. Unfortunately Galatasarasy SK converted their only opportunity on goal in the match and snatched the ticket for the final.

The tournament was won by Galatasaray SK. Panathinaikos and AEK failed to make it past their respective groups.

In their first group stage match, PAOK defeated Fenerbahçe SK 3-0, courtesy of goals by Vrakas, Boubas and Pournaras. They then prevailed 2-1 over Atromitos, with Boubas and Batalamas assuming the scoring role. PAOK lost 2-0 to Altınordu, but finished top of their section. In the quarter-finals they faced Bursaspor and ended up winning 3-1 despite falling behind.

The following teams took part in the tournament: PΑΟΚ, ΑΕΚ, Atromitos, Panathinaikos and Winners Anthousa-Mesogia from Greece, along with Altınordu, Beşiktaş JK, Bursaspor, Fenerbahçe SK, Galatasaray SK and Trabzonspor AŞ from Turkey, as well as Athletic Bilbao from Spain.

PAOK U15 team consists of: Christos Talichmanidis, Athanasios Batalamas, Ilias Kazoulidis, Christos Voutsas, Efstathios Tachatos, Ahmet Samet, Rafail Konios, Dimitris Papadopoulos, Athanasios Papavasiliou, Nikolaos Sapranidis, Angelos Mountzouris, Dimitris Theodoridis, Theodoros Pournaras, Giorgos Vrakas, Konstantinos Boubas, Dimitris Kalfountzos, Christos Macheridis, Dimitris Xyfilinos, Anestis Provatidis, Spyros Atmatzidis, Michail Koulalis, Zacharias Georgiadis, Anastasios Batalamas, Stefanos Varsamidis, Theodoros Goutziouridis.

*The tournament was an initiative by Greek firm Yellowfields and Turkish club Altınordu SK and was held at Altınordu’s sports centre.
