«Aiming to win on Sunday»
In the aftermatch of the Dortmund encounter, everyone’s focus shifts to the Sunday league clash against Olympiacos. Igor Tudor spoke about it to Novasports TV. Here is what he said:
On the Dortmund match and what he would like to keep from it:
«I am satisfied, that’s the first I keep from the match. Borussia are not of UEFA Europa League caliber. They belong to the Champions League and would be destined for great things, had they participated in that competition this season. We are glad. We played good defence, according to our preparation plans. We wanted to close down spaces so that our rivals wouldn’t get creative and then we aimed for counterattacks. Our plans worked out pretty well and we are satisfied«.
On his team’s ability to adjust to the rival’s style:
«It’s interesting and satisfying to see that we are very compact as a team. This style of play isn’t easy. Nobody wishes to be camped in their defence, but one shouldn’t be naïve either. I don’t want us to become just a pleasing little side that like to pressure and play ball. We must adjust to circumstances and get everything our players can give. They understand that and they sacrifice themselves even more for the team. Victory is what matters in football. I believe this was one of our best performances so far. Not so much in terms of creation or attack, but rather in tactics. My players sacrificed themselves, they ran and were almost perfect. I am satisfied«.
On whether he will rotate his troops against Olympiacos:
«Both matches are very important. Our rivals can rotate, we can’t because we are not like them. We have a huge game ahead and just three days to rest. We are not happy about it, but we can’t change it. We will try to recuperate forces and produce yet another good game«.
On whether the midweek European encounters of PAOK and Olympiacos are a safe indication of what we will see on Sunday:
«We watched Olympiacos’ London game and all their matches. Arsenal were beaten by a very good team. I don’t like to focus on the rival. I see only my team, it’s my only concer. It won’t be an easy game, but we play at home. We want to put on a very good performance and win the clash«.
