«Only the team matters»
He made his maiden appearance with the black-and-white shirt in Toumba, in a tough encounter against AEK Athens. Ater the final whistle of Wednesday’s match, Dimitar Berbatov spoke to media representatives.
On PAOK’s comeback:
«Our team spirit helped us turn the tie around. Our team is young, but they are experienced enough to handle such situations and win these games«.
On his first experience at Toumba:
«It was a great atmosphere. My teammates told me that it’s always like that in Toumba«.
On when he will be ready to feature in the starting line-up:
«You need to ask my coach about it. I am here to help the team and that’s why I want to enter the pitch. I have scored many goals in my career, therefore I am not particularly interested in boosting my stats. My main aim is to win. It’s very important to carve out chances. No chances are lost when no football is played. We displayed a fine spirit, created opportunities and perhaps we could have scored earlier in the match«.
On whether he feels happy at PAOK:
«I thoroughly enjoy playing in a team with so many younger players, who participate in European competition and create such a great atmosphere. It’s important for me to create chances and pass the ball to my teammates to score. I want to help the team. I have scored many goals in my career and I am ready to help as best as I can with whatever my coach asks of me. In football, individual performances are not important, team work is«.
