«For me, every match is like a final «
Ahead of the visit of AEK Athens to Toumba for Super League matchday 4, Igor Tudor spoke on Novasports TV. Here is what he said:
On what he would like his players to do better:
«I tend to give the same answer in this particular question, because even when we play great, my aim is to decipher what went wrong and make the necessary corrections. That’s the only way to improve. We must hold on to the good staff and work more. I want to see a good PAOK on the pitch. In the three months I’ve been here, we never lost a game when playing as PAOK«.
On how a coach prepares for a high-profile game:
«For a coach, every match is like a final. In high-profile games, there is a difference for the players. A coach is interested only in the final outcome, nobody remembers what he did until then, every match is a final. I want us to prevail on the pitch, as we try to do in all games. I have watched AEK play, I know they are good, but we play at home and we want to win«.
On how he would prepare for such games as a player:
«I would prepare for them differently. I would play my best football in high-profile matches, as the motivation is huge. Knowing the character of my players, I believe we will be good on Wednesday«.
On the fans of PAOK and the perspective of a packed Toumba:
«Their support is very important to us. We want to repay them for the energy they provide with our running, our tactics and our inspiration«.
