First victory for U20s
PAOK U20s earned their first three-pointer of the season, defeating PAS Giannina 1-0 for the Super League matchday 2.
With Panagiotis Deligiannidis at their ranks and an attacking mentality, the troops of Vladan Ivić were looking for their maiden win in the league. The 4-4-2 applied in the opening draw against SKODA Xanthi turned into a 4-3-3 with the squad mainly deploying from the wings. Tselepidis covered the right side of defence and Raca made his debut in the current season.
The young players of the “Double-Headed Eagle” took the initiative from minute one and had absolute control of proceedings, trying to carve out chances to take the lead. At the other end of the pitch, Koutoglidis was practically a spectator and was called to intervene just once, in the 30th minute, when PAS Giannina enjoyed a rare opportunity to score. Three minutes later, PAOK made their dominance count. Deligiannidis passed to Raca whose cross was met with a fine header by Κushta for the opener. The young forward has now scored twice in as many encounters.
In the second half, match pace dropped and PAOK conceded space to their rivals who failed however to create considerable danger. The “Double-Headed Eagle” managed a professional victory, their first for the season, and proved that as time goes by they will deal with their weaknesses and improve further.
