This week’s activity of PAOK internationals

The international break comes in handy after the heavy schedule of the last two months. Some players however won’t have the time to relax, being on international duty. Here are the fixtures where PAOK players are involved.

01.09.2015

Greece interim coach Kostas Tsanas called Alexandros Tziolis and Stelios Kitsiou for the encounters against Finland (4 September at “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium) and Romania (7 September in Bucharest). Greece are trying to exhaust their slim chances of making it to the finals: they need to line up just victories from now on and wait for a combination of results that could see them climb to third place and enter the play-off stage. Tziolis is among the most experienced players of the group, while Kitsiou has been called to the national squad for the first time, as a reward for his outstanding performances with the “Double-Headed Eagle”.

Greece U21s kick off their participation in the European Championship qualifying stage with an away encounter at Liechtenstein. Michalis Iordanidis extended calls to Dimitris Konstantinidis, Κyriakos Savvidis and Giannis Mystakidis.

Slovakia, with Róbert Mak and Erik Sabo in their ranks, have to negotiate two demanding ties in order to remain at the top of their section and seal their Euro 2016 tickets as soon as possible. They face Spain away on 5 September and, three days later, they play host to Ukraine.

Ergys Kace has joined Albania who are preparing from their matches against Denmark (away on 4 September) and Portugal (at home on 7 September). A three-pointer in either encounter will see the Balkan team keep the upper hand in their qualifying group.

Μarin Leovac’s Croatia have a theoretically easier task as they face Azerbaijan and Norway on 3 and 6 September respectively. If they record two victories, they will remain at the top and leave the pack trailing.

Robin Olsen is preparing for Sweden’s matches against Russia (away on 5 September) and Austria (at home on 8 September). A victory over Russia will see the Scandinavians extend their lead to 7 points and all but book a place in next season’s final tournament.

As for Garry Rodrigues, he has travelled to Egypt for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Cape Verde and Libya on 6 September.
