PAOK Youth and Development sections: scientific staff
A young footballer’s upbringing requires medical, nutritional, psychological and educational know-how. PAOK Youth and Development Sections offer a rounded education, especially to teenagers residing in the dorms, a huge responsibility for the club.
It goes without saying that PAOK Academy members go through pertinent medical testing. Children aged 6 to 12 are monitored monthly by a pediatrician specialized in growth and by orthopaedic doctor Ioannis Ousantzopoulos. Ergophysiologist Giorgos Ziogas and his staff measure, record and assess each child’s physical abilities in order to treat them to adequate training forms and check out their progress through them. From the age of 14, youngsters undergo ergometrics tests three times per year.
Nutritionist Ioanna Paspala cares for the nutrition of the young athletes, while making them understand the basics of proper nutrition and its importance of the players’ health and sports performance.
Psychological education has been handed to psychologist Irini Rera, who focuses on helping each child through individual or team sessions while creating a personality file for each one of them.
Schooling coordinator Ioanna Charalampous monitors the children’s school performance and intervenes when needed, as PAOK consider school a very important factor in the athletes’ upbringing.
