Final countdown…
The end of the season is just two days away as PAOK face Asteras at Tripolis. The results of the play-off last matchday will decide if PAOK finish second, third or fourth in the play-offs.
Giorgos Georgiadis and his players have one last mission. They need to win at Tripolis in order to avoid qualifiers at the heart of the summer.
After Wednesday’s match against Atromitos and in view of some new injury woes, PAOK coach is following a conservative program in order to keep his troops as fit as possible for their last 90 minutes on the pitch for the season.
Friday’s training lasted less than an hour and looked more like a cool-down session with warm-up drills and games in reduced space.
Stefanos Athanasiadis is still complaining of back pains and remained in the gym. PAOK’s skipper is expected to train on Saturday and become available to his coach, even if an injection is needed.
The same goes for Róbert Mak who went through the light session. On the contrary, there are several players who are definitely sidelined through injury: Dimitris Konstantinidis (2nd degree strain in the right quadriceps), Răzvan Raț (2nd degree strain in the right groin), Panagiotis Glykos (shoulder), Eyal Golasa (2nd degree strain in the groin area) and Dimitris Salpingidis (operation in the right big toe). Ergys Kace is sidelined with suspension, while Christian Noboa has joined the national team of Ecuador.
PAOK are scheduled to train at Toumba on Saturday morning at 11 and then they will fly to Kalamata and go from there to Tripolis by bus.
