Tziolis voted “Fans’ Man of the Match”

Inexhaustible passion, incessant running and a commanding presence to go along with the assist for Pereyra’s goal. You voted Alexandros Tiolis as your Fans’Man of the Match for the game against Atromitos.

23.05.2015

He is considered PAOK’s barometer and his performance at Peristeri offered ample proof of that. A leader in midfield, he connected defense and attack and dictated match pace. His exquisite move in the area, evading three rivals and teeing up Facundo Pereyra for the simplest of finishes, was the highlight of the encounter.

In paokfc.gr’s poll for “Fans’ Man of the Match”, Alexandros Tziolis won 31,07% of the vote, edging out Charles Itandje, who earned 23,54% thanks to his timely interventions at the end of the encounter, that secured the draw point. PAOK’s scorer of the evening Facundo Pereyra got 12,86%.

The Greek midfielder spoke to Novasports TV about the upcoming encounter against Asteras Tripolis at Toumba. Here are his thoughts:

On how he expects Asteras to perform and the key points of the match:

«After their defeat, Asteras will definitely aim to win, as it’s practically one of their last chances to get back in the game. But we don’t care about that. We also failed to collect all three points on matchday one. We play at home and there is no other result for us –just victory. We want that game very much».

Whether PAOK are ready and if there is room for improvement so that they can claim top spot in the play-offs:

«Our performance against Atromitos was not bad. We had the will and the proper mentality for the game. Not winning was a setback, but we look ahead. There is no time to mull over lost points. We need to focus on our next match and get the three-pointer».
