“The most crucial match”

A few hours before play-offs begin, Giorgos Georgiadis spoke to Novasports TV.

19.05.2015

Here is what the Greek coach said.

Regarding the team’s situation:

«We faced several injury setbacks, but most of the players are on their way back to action. We focus on the players available to us, those who can both physically and mentally carry out this mini league».

What will set the teams apart in the play-offs:

«Details will decide the play-offs. Every team has a shot at it and they believe they can do it. It’s a mini league, it’s the end of the season, there is fatigue, temperatures are high, but there is no team that stands out right now, no clear favourite. Everything depends on the will and determination of the players».

Whether the schedule counts:

«I don’t think so. However, the team to start off with wins will have the upper hand, as it’s just six matches. The encounter against Atromitos is the most crucial of the whole procedure. It’s a good side, very strong at home and we need to do our best to win –Atromitos will do the same».

About the league match at Peristeri:

«Play-offs are different from the league matches. There is nothing to hide, everybody knows each other. All four teams participating in the play-offs are experienced, having gone through the same drill repeatedly in recent years”.

Whether there is room for surprise attacks:

«There are no surprises in football. Any second counts and things can change with the blink of an eye. We know each other well and I believe that all teams will focus on bringing out their best on the pitch».

About the friendly encounter of PAOK against Greece 2004 team:

«It was a wonderful experience, we had a good time with the fans. It was great to see them respond and help raise money. We got to wear our football boots again and were happy to participate».

About the full payment of the debts by Ivan Savvidis:

«He brought closure to a long-standing problem for PAOK. It was a day of redemption. Savvidis proved his love and determination to make PAOK big. There is scope for development and we must repay him for what he has done, by winning and playing attractive football».
