PAOK thrash Rodos 6-1
On 13 May 1979, PAOK trounced Rodos 6-1, putting on an impressive show of attacking diversity. This match helped five players complete the season with two-digit tally of goals.
The first half ended with PAOK leading 1-0 courtesy of Giorgos Kostikos. Nothing suggested that a goal galore would follow after the interval.
The “Double-Headed Eagle” scored four goals in less than 15 minutes (47’ Apostolidis, 52, 62′ Orfanos, 56′ Sarafis). Georgalis netted a consolation goal for the islanders in the 83rd minute, but Kermanidis restored the five-goal distance three minutes later.
PAOK line-up on that day: Filis, Gounaris, Iosifidis, Th.Apostolidis, Anastasiadis, Damanakis, Kermanidis, Sarafis (68′ Siggas), Kostikos, Koudas, Guerino (46′ Orfanos).
