Round-up news about the U14s’ league title, the U16s’ final loss and Greece U17s’ important victory in the Euro finals

PAOK U14s defeated Bebides 4-0 in the Makedonia Clubs Union’s league final and claimed the title, as a reward for their season-long efforts.

In a mediocre first half, the pupils of Alexis Alexiadis and Giannis Ampatzidis took the lead through Georgiadis in the 25th minute. After the interval, PAOK upped their game and scored three times courtesy of Moutzouris (MVP of the final), Xyfilinos and Digozis.

PAOK U14: Talichmanidis (55′ Batalamas), Papadopoulos, Tachatos (55′ Konios), Dimitrakoudis (55′ Papavasiliou), Moutzouris (55′ Sapranidis), Voutsas (55′ Dimas), Atmatzidis (45′ Provatidis), Boubas (55′ Koulalis), Georgiadis (45′ T.Batalamas), Pournaras, Xyfilinos (55′ Digozis).

 

U16s didn’t make it

Unfortunately PAOK U16 team were not equally successful in the weekend’s second final for the club’s youth sections. They lost 1-0 to Bebides, conceding a goal at the stroke of the hour. The team of Mirosław Sznaucner and Alekos Theodoridis were very good in the first half, but rather nervous after the interval, thus failing to overturn the result.

PAOK U16: Totolidis, Papathanasiou (57′ Cela), Lazaridis, Efthymiadis, Polyzos, Meletidis (50′ Kragiopoulos), Draganis (50′ Vafiadis), Karaiskos, Yfantidis (58′ Alopoudis), Chatzistravos (68′ Filippidis), Tzovaras (72′ Menelaou).

 

Greece U17 down Scotland 1-0

Greece U17s recorded an important 1-0 victory over Scotland on matchday two of the UEFA European Championship in Bulgaria. Pavlidis scored the solitary goal of the encounter. Greece now need just one point out of their final group stage match against France on Wednesday to qualify to the knock-outs.

Goalkeeper Marios Siampanis put on great performance, denying the Scots on numerous occasions. Lively Κonstantinos Chatzidimpas was introduced in the game in the second half and wasted two opportunities to score. Asterios Dodontsakis came off the bench in minute 80.
