“I believe in my players’ will”

Giorgos Georgiadis spoke to Novasports TV ahead of the encounter against Panionios, to be held at Nea Smyrni on Sunday.

08.05.2015

Here is what PAOK coach said:

About rumours surrounding last matchday:

«I can only laugh at them. This encounter is crucial for both us and our rivals. If we win, we will enter the play-off stage with three points. That alone makes it very important».

About the significance of an extra point in the play-offs:

«You all remember that we lost the extra point at Livadia last season. After also having three points deducted from our tally by the Appeals’ Committee, we ended up trailing Panathinaikos by one point. Had we not lost that extra point at Livadia, we would have topped the play-offs. Therefore it’s of the utmost importance to gain the third point».

About the key fact of the encounter against Panionios:

«I believe in my players’ will. Panionios will be determined and I expect my squad to have the same determination».

About Ouzounidis’ work at Nea Smyrni:

«Panionios have improved since he took over. He has done a very good job. He had good players and works for a historic club. I really can’t understand how they ended up fighting to avoid relegation on the last matchday. But no doubt about it, it’s a good team and we have huge respect for them».

About PAOK’s form:

«We are in fine shape and our morale has been boosted with our latest victory. We worked well this week and are ready for the last matchday».

Whether there is still room for improvement:

«We have improved in various aspects, but still need work in some parts of our game. However we still have some days left before play-offs start to deal with our weaknesses. We should not forget however that we were trailing second place by seven points when we started working and now we are the ones occupying second place.».

About the encounter against Levadiakos:

«In the first half, we created chances to score and were not threatened by them. In the second half, I didn’t like the way we speculated with the result. We got carried away by our rivals’ low tempo. I would like my players to play more».
