A life experience for Anastasis
His face was beaming, his smile reflecting his happiness. His wish came true. He attended the preparation of his favourite team for an official encounter. He became a part of PAOK and he will remember it for a lifetime.
It’s enviable how children keep it simple. Their perception of what is really important in life, their authentic pleasure in things that seem trivial to us… Anastasis got the opportunity to fulfill his wish through Make-A-Wish Greece. He chose to live up close the moments building up to an official encounter at Toumba –he got his wish ahead of the Levadiakos encounter, as a member of the squad. Always smiling, with his youngster sister Theano accompanying him always.
He got into the dressing rooms, got to know his… teammetes, got autographs, had his photo taken so that “my friends at school will see them and believe that I really worked out with PAOK”. Then he put on his gloves and joined regular training.
He was given instructions by Giorgos Georgiadis, entered the pitch alongside Róbert Mak who promised to take shots at him and then got to work with the goalkeepers. Dimitris Mousiaris had prepared a specialized session for him to get him ready, because –as Anastasis said- “in a few years I will be playing for PAOK”.
After the training session, the team got on the bus and headed for the hotel to eat, follow tactical analysis and then rest. Anastasis was with them, holding the ball that Mak used to play with him.
The new “signing” of PAOK participated in the rival’s analysis, pointing out to Charles Itandje that “you should be careful with Pele’s powerful strikes”, visited the room of Ergys Kace and then left, promising to return on Sunday for the game.
Wearing the No 1 shirt, he was at Toumba, escorted the players out on the pitch and then watched them beat Levadiakos.
PAOK stand by Anastasis’ side and expect him back one day, to defend the team’s goal.
