Răzvan Raț spoke to media representatives after PAOK’s victory over SKODA Xanthi. Here is what the Romanian international had to say:
About the victory and the team’s performance:
«I believe you witnessed our improvement as well. We played well and the match was entertaining as Xanthi also opted for attacking tactics. If we stick however to today’s result, we won’t achieve much. We must build on this victory and produce a streak of good displays and victories in order to achieve our aims».
About the empty stands:
«I believe that our negative results are to blame for this. If the team win back-to-back matches, fans will return to Toumba».
Regarding the incident with Răzvan Lucescu after the final whistle:
«I’ve known Mr. Lucescu for 16 years. He is a coach, presided a club I played for, was my coach in the national team. We are bound by friendship. There was tension as he wanted his team to win, but that doesn’t change much».
Regarding PAOK’s aim to win the play-off procedure:
«It goes without saying that our aim is to finish first in the play-offs, as we have no other objectives left in the season».
Regarding his participation in the national team:
«I don’t understand why irrelevant things pop up. I am a player of PAOK and I honour PAOK. I don’t believe I need to apologize for suffering an injury in the Ergotelis match. It has happened once before. I believe I know why some do make a case out of it and what they are planning to achieve. I won’t get into the subject again».
