PAOK U17s stormed to a nine-point lead in the standings of the Super League, after their victory over Panthrakikos. The pupils of Alexis Tasoulis and Thanos Kourtoglou prevailed 2-1over the Komotini outfit and now have 51 points, nine points clear of PAS Giannins (42) and SKODA Xanthi (41).

PAOK were better throughout the encounter and took the lead with a close range shot by Koutousis following an assist by Makousis. A blunder by their goalkeeper however allowed the rivals to level the encounter in the 54th minute. Twenty minutes later Argyriou and Konstantinou combined and the latter scored in style to make it 2-1 for the “Double-Headed Eagle”.

U16s down Aris

PAOK U16s emerged victorious again. In a tense encounter of two different halves, they prevailed 1-0 over Aris thanks to a goal by Vafiadis in the 25th minute. These three points bring the pupils of Sznaucner and Theodoridis at the top of the standings.

PAOK were the better team in the first half. They settled on the ball, moved it around in style, created three clear chances to score the opener but wasted them. They were successful however in the 25th minute, when Vafiadis met Tsemekidis’ cross in the area and unleashed a left-footed shot to break the deadlock.

In the second half, Aris took the initiative in search of the equalizer. However PAOK held firm and celebrated a hard-fought victory.
