Here is what Angelos Anastasiadis said in his press conference after the final whistle of the Super League encounter between PAOK and AEL Kalloni at Mytilini.
His initial statement:
“We were very disciplined, organized on all lines. We said that we should stop that losing streak. I wanted us to win this game. The team reminded me today of our form two months ago. When this is achieved in numerical inferiority, it’s double the merit”.
If he had any thoughts of resigning:
“I never resign, I wait to be sacked”.
About the red card:
“It’s unacceptable to see a player get sent off for this reason. It’s wrong”.
About the referee:
“Outrage invites second thoughts, but we should not discuss that here. Such questions keep people away from matches. So let’s talk about football. I believe that such situations boost us. Sometimes I can feel reaching my limits, but the Holy Virgin helps me to keep calm. I told the guys during the interval that they should forget about the referee and play football. Had we engaged in fighting, we would stoop to their level and that is what they would want. I will not speak about the referee, but I will make sure that we don’t suffer any more dismissals such as the one of Kace”.
About Wednesday’s game:
“We are better than our opponents. You can write whatever you want. AEK Kalloni have a great coach who knows football better than anyone –even better than me. We are title contenders and should win our games at home and away. Each one has their own opinion about events”.
About their improved display despite getting reduced to ten:
“Nothing happens by chance, we do what we must do. I will not pass judgment on the referees. I hope that this guy will be officiating our matches each Sunday –that would be a blessing”
About Mak:
“Mak wasn’t that good today, I expected much more of him, but he was out for a long time, so he is justified. But I will not linger on the performance of a specific player. Mak maybe had an off day because he was good at Tripolis and was more tired than the rest. That’s it, nothing more”.
