Angelos Anastasiadis talked to Novasports TV, ahead of PAOK’s encounter against Panionios for matchday 17 of Super League. Here is what the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” coach had to say about the year that went by, the return to action after the mini break and the tough first encounter of the new year.
About 2014:
“Let me wish everybody a blessed year, that will make it up for all the hardships of years gone by. I also wish all fans a better football year without violence, without problems, without obstacles. Let us enjoy football, the king of sports this year! As for PAOK, they set out last summer to build a team that will depend on their home grown talents and will become a title contender. We have achieved much, but we are not yet at 100%, we have still a long way to go in order to become the team that fans want, the President wants, the administration wants… We are working on it. Thank God, we are satisfied. We could have achieved more, but let’s not be ungrateful. Let’s not haste, because time is also a vital component of the equation. I am satisfied”.
About the return to action after the break:
“There is no much difference between the time we left and now that we return. The only positive thing is that the guys that had more playing time in the first part of the season got to rest. This rest was beneficial, both physically and mentally. We are calm, serene and happy. This is a blessing. We still face problems with our injured players, while we can’t count on Tzavellas who has a two-match suspension to serve. But we are used to such situations”.
About the encounter against Panionios:
“I am anxious about the team’s performance after the break. There is always a question-mark regarding our display and our rivals’s performance. After the breaks, I always preferred away matches. We are coming up against a disciplined team, with a good coach and good players and we need to be disciplined as well and kick off the new year with a win, in order to continue what we started before Christmas”.
