Positive conclusions
Vladan Ivić’s troops shattered Silvolde SC with a goal galore (14-0) in their first friendly encounter of the season.
Vladan Ivić used 22 players and fielded a different line-up in each half, both however in a 4-3-3 formation. Panagiotis Glykos and Markos Vellidis didn’t participate, so that the younger goalkeepers would get playing minutes. As for newcomers Djalma Campos and Diego Biseswar, Greek internationals Giorgos Tzavellas and Alexandros Tziolis, as well as recovering Dimitris Konstantinidis also sat out this game.
PAOK fired on all cylinders from minute one and got an early lead with Efthymis Koulouris who scored with his chest following a cross by Marin Leovac. In the 6th minute, Facundo Pereyra stormed forward to make it 2-0 after Nikos Melissas’s long throw. Leovac also provided the third goal.
In the 26th minute, Yevhen Shakhov headed home for PAOK’s fourth goal connecting a corner kick by Pereyra. The latter med it 5-0 four minutes later, on an assist by Garry Rodrigues. The Argentinian forward completed his hat-trick in the 33rd minute with a header, following a Rodrigues corner. Koulouris sealed the first-half goal galore with a fine individual move and neat finish.
After the interval, Vladan Ivić changed the entire XI, but the substitutes didn’t take the foot off the throttle. Dimitris Pelkas extended PAOK’s lead with a cool curling finish. Three minutes later, Jairo teed up Stefanos Athanasiadis for a close-range ninth goal. In minute 64, Jairo evaded two defenders to serve Pelkas, who scored with a header. Two minutes later, Klaus netted his second of the evening with a fine lob and then it was Tasos Dimitriadis’s turn to score twice (74’, 88’). The final goal came courtesy of Klaus, who sent home Léo Matos’s pin-point cross with a close-range header.
Those who didn’t participate, trained on the pitch. PAOK will play their second friendly game on Dutch soil next Saturday (9 July) against Club Brugge at 19:00 (Greek time).
