A bad day at the office
It was a match of closed spaces and few chances to score. PAOK had to negotiate their absences due to injury and their players’ fatigue. Since they failed to make the most of the few opportunities they carved out, a solitary goal by Panathinaikos decided the encounter.
After the interval, PAOK players seemed affected by disappointment and the new injury woes. Stefanos Athanasiadis was substituted just 22 minutes after coming off the bench, while Róbert Mak was breathless and the team tried to turn the tie around but to no avail.
Line-ups:
PAOK: Itandje, Kitsiou, Raț, Tzavellas, Costa, Tziolis, Kace, Noboa, Mak, Pozoglou (46′ Pereyra), Papadopoulos (46′ Athanasiadis, 68′ Koulouris)
