PAOK B slip to 3-2 defeat against Kabaniakos

30.09.2023

A game of twists and turns on Saturday afternoon in Efkarpia ended with PAOK B suffering a 3-2 defeat in their second Super League 2 game of the season against Kampaniakos.

PAOK B were taken by surprise following a sustained period of early pressure, with Kabaniakos taking the lead in the fourth minute through Garifalos. The Double-headed Eagle immediately regained control and after an aggressive period of attacking pressure they found an equalizer in the 19th minute. Darelas worked his way inside nicely from the left, passed to Tsopouroglou, and he made it 1-1. Despite PAOK’s overwhelming possession and at least three futher important goal-scoring opportunities, Kabaniakos looked dangerous on counter-attacks. However, it was Alexiadis‘ men who scored again, this time with Gordeziani’s close-range header following Ninua’s cross in the second minute of first-half stoppage time seeing PAOK B go in 2-1 up at half-time.

The second half started with some balance. PAOK were moved the ball around nicely, while the visitors worked well to close the attacking corridors and it was the visitors who were the ones who finally found a way to goal in the 63rd minute, again with Garifalos. And then they went one better by scoring a winning goal in the 74th minute via Totska to make it 3-2. No matter how hard PAOK tried afterwards, they couldn’t find an equalizer and were unfortunately defeated in their second outing of the campaign.
