One foot in the semi-finals

PAOK produced an excellent display in Serres, playing good football, scoring [another] four goals, while also keeping a clean sheet en route to a 4-0 win that means they took a decisive step towards qualifying for the last four of the 2023-24 Betsson Greek Cup.

Panserraikos started the game with the intention of springing a surprise, and they threatened in some cases early on, but PAOK quickly stamped their authority on the game and started to threaten.

And, in the eighth minute, the visitors went in front. Razvan Lucescu’s team won a corner, which was taken by A. Živkovic. Panserraikos ‘keeper Katsikas saved Brandon’s header, but Nasberg arrived to force the  ball home into the back of the net.

PAOK continued to press high and intercept possession, which resulted in the second goal in the 23rd minute. Brandon stole the ball, passed it to A. Živković, and he in turn passed it to Sastre and the Spaniard doubled the visitors’ advantage with a nice finish.

The home side tried to react and had two good moments, with Živko Živkovic in the PAOK goal reacting well to save on both ocassions, keeping the score 2-0 to PAOK at half-time.

The second half was one-way traffic, with the Double-headed Eagle having no trouble cruising to a big victory and taking a significant qualifying lead.

In the 58th minute, Brandon was brought down in the penalty area, and the referee indicated for a penalty. However, the Spanish forward saw is spot-kick saved by Katsikas.

In the 69th minute, though, Marcos Antonio found the back of the net with a fine shot from outside the penalty area, while in the 78th minute, A. Zivkovic put his stamp on the game when he scored with a superb shot following a pass from Konstantelias .

The Double-headed Eagle, then, completed their mission in Serres and now turn their attention to the league match against NFC Volos at the Panthessaliko.
