Back to their winning ways
PAOK U20s recorded an important 1-0 victory over Veria that brings them back to their winning ways following a series of negative results. The final scoreline doesn’t reflect the superiority of Vladan Ivić’s team, who wasted at least 10 (!) classic opportunities to record a broader win.
In the first half, “Double-Headed Eagle’s” players tried to break the deadlock in several ways but would be denied repeatedly by Veria’s excellent goalkeeper who would save PAOK’s attempts in every way possible (Vasaitis, Kusta, Savvidis and Pozoglou were all denied). On the rare occasions that he was already beaten, the woodwork came to his rescue.
After the interval, PAOK players carved out even more clean-cut chances for the opener. Their efforts were rewarded in the 69th minute, when Pozoglou teed-up Savvidis for the easiest of finishes.
The complexion of the encounter remained unchanged after the goal and the final 1-0 doesn’t do justice to the effort and the performance of PAOK U20s.
PAOK U20: Soilemezoglou, Topalidis, Pouggouras, Vasaitis, Tselepidis, Toumanidis (68′ Ktistopoulos), Patralis, Savvidis, Pozoglou, Tsolakidis (85′ Kakko), Kusta (88′ Panteliadis).
