Under-15’s exit Final Four on penalties
Despite being the superior team for long spells of the match against Atromitos, showing quality, passion and attacking verve, PAOK failed to qualify for the Under-15 final.
Unfortunately, PAOK could not convert their superiority, shown through good passing and possession of the ball, into goals, also missing several good opportunities. The result was that the match went the route of penalties to decide the winner.
And that is when the situation is always unpredictable, and your chances are only 50-50. Atromitos scored five times, while PAOK only managed four, and after what has been a difficult season for everyone, the history books will say that the Dikefalos tou Vorra lost 5-4 on spot kicks.
Another disappointing and unfortunate highlight of the match – and at this point it’s always worth noting that this is youth football and all about the players gaining vital experience – was an injury to Dimitris Papaevangelou.
PAOK team lineup:
Angelidis, Kastidis, Pasachidis, Georgiadis (76′ Panagiotidis), Vasiliadis, Kottas, Deligiannis, Goumas, Adam, Varela (53′ Koutsioudis), Ganopoulos (53′ Papaevengelou – 70′ Taxiarchidis)
