Important win for PAOK B
PAOK B did what was required of them, defeating Ethnikos Nea Keramidi 3-2 in the away match that took place in Katerini on Saturday afternoon for Matchday 18 of the regular season of the Super League 2 championship. With the three points, PAOK now head into the mini-league of play outs, starting with ten points. Their opponents in the play outs will be: Niki Volos, Kavala, Diagoras Rodou and Ethnikos Nea Keramidi.
PAOK’S second string took control of the match from the start, constantly creating dangerous moments in front of the home team’s goal. In the ninth minute they found a way to open the score after a nice combination between Filon and Kanis, which brought the latter into the area to then pick out Karagiozis who scored. In the 21st minute, Kligopoulos was sent off with a straight red card for a challenge on Hurtado, so PAOK B’s task became even easier. And in the 33rd minute, our team’s superiority was sealed with the wonderful goal by Hurtado, who took advantage of Tsopouroglou’s pass, entered the area and scored to make it 2-0.
The picture was similar in the second half with the home team pressing, but PAOK B keeping the majority of possession and missing quite a few scoring opportunities. It only seemed a matter of time before they scored a third goal, which happened in the 63rd minute with Goumas’s shot on the move after Tsopouroglou’s cross. Keramidi reduced the deficit in the 74th minute via Sampanidis, who took advantage of a mistake in PAOK B’s defense, something that repeated in the 90th minute with Dailiani, who made it 3-2.
PAOK B held on though for what was obviously an important win for, among other things, a confidence boost. The play outs are expected to begin around the end of February.
