Suicidal display
Everything went wront at Zosimades on Sunday. PAOK lost 3-1 to PAS Giannina, givng out two goals and a red card to their rivals.
After such a development, it’s difficult to analyse how the “Double-Headed Eagle” found themselves trailing from a… throw-in, how they missed chances on open goal, how a player got sent off receiving two cautions when his team were in possession of the ball, how they scored an own-goal right after the interval, how they managed to lose after being permanently camped in their rivals’ box…
One could of course make a case out of the team’s expected lack of homogeneity and their astonishing lack of luck. However, during the international break and until the next league game at Veria, PAOK need to work with their new players and bring out the character they displayed early on in their European encounters.
History books will record a defeat at Giannina via goals of Michalis Manias (4′), Erik Sabo (52′ own-goal), Cristian Chánez (81′) and Miguel Vítor (90+). There won’t be any record of the amazing chances wasted by Jairo, Marin Leovac, Ricardo Costa, Róbert Mak, Dimitris Pelkas and Vítor who couldn’t beat Markos Vellidis.
Line-ups:
PAS Giannina (Giannis Petrakis): Vellidis, Struna, Berios, Michail, Nadales, Tsoukalas, Tzimopoulos, Chávez (Sapalidis 86´), Acosta, Ilić (Giakos 71′), Manias (Ferferlis (80′)
PΑΟΚ (Igor Tudor): Olsen, Costa, Konstantinidis , Tziolis, Vítor, Leovac, Kace, Sabo (Rodrigues 60′), Jairo, Pelkas, Mak (Mystakidis 70′)
