Injuries cut PAOK in half
Sometimes words fail to explain a match like the 1-1 draw between PAOK and Atromitos.
There are no words to explain how the “Double-Headed Eagle” didn’t win a game after such a good first-half. They created many chances to score, were good in attacking set pieces, were permanently in attack against a side who managed their first good chance in the 44th minute.
Two of PAOK’s most lively players in the match, Jairo and Garry Rodrigues, limped off with injuries and the pace of Igor Tudor’s team suffered for it.
After the 55th minute, Atromitos claimed the ball and balanced possession stats, but didn’t become dangerous until the 81st minute. At that point, Nikos Lazaridis caught PAOK’s defense napping and equalized. In the remaining time, the home side couldn’t find the winner.
With the addition of Jairo and Rodrigues on the large absentees’ list, Igor Tudor will have to shuffle his pack considerably in order to keep his team compact in a crucial period. The “Double-Headed Eagle” will keep on going after their aims anyway, against all adversity.
