Under-19s draw with Olympiacos
PAOK’s Under-19 side had victory in sight against league leaders Olympiacos, but that was until the 80th minute when the home side found an equalizer and the match ended 1-1, leaving PAOK one point behind their title rivals.
PAOK needed an away win to take the lead in the standings from the match that took place on Sunday afternoon at Rentis for Matchday 24 of the Super League, and the truth is that for most of the game they were clearly the better side, more lively and threatening.
They took the lead in the 37th minute with Balde scoring, after Panikidis’ wonderful run from the right and an excellent pass. They continued dynamically, dominating at the start of the second half as well. However, they did not take advantage of the opportunities they created to get a second goal, and as a result of Olympiacos‘ pressure in the last few minutes they conceded an equalizer.
After 18 games, Olympiacos holds top spot with 50 points, followed by PAOK with 49. There are seven games left until the end of the championship, with PAOK hosting Asteras Tripolis on the next matchday.
It should be noted that the Under-19 cup matches have also been scheduled. PAOK host AEK in the quarter-finals on March 15 or 16, followed by the semi-finals (April 12/13), while the final will be held on May 24.
PAOK’s lineup: Beleris, Panikidis (83′ Koupenos), Polykratis, Bataoulas, Kosidis, Almasidis (83′ Papanikopoulos), Hatsidis, Scznauczner (74′ Eleftheriadis), Mythos, Papageorgiou (74′ Kalaitsidis), Balde (67′ Berdos).
