Vote for the Regency Casino Best Goal of 2024
Before the first goals of 2025 start to be scored, it’s time to highlight the top goal of 2024! Paokfc.gr and our friends from Regency Casino invite you to take part in choosing the best goal of the year. You decide! Let’s go!
Three contending strikes apiece from Giannis Konstantelias and Kiril Despontov, two for Taison and one each for Konstantinos Koulierakis and Andrija Zivkovic . So let’s have a look at them one by one, starting from January 2024.
January: After a pass from A. Zivkovic, Mr. Breeze controlled the ball impressively in the penalty area and with a perfect placed finish, he «passed» the ball over Katsikas to make it 5-0 against Panserraikos.
February: Mr. Breeze scored a highly impressive goal in the match against Atromitos in Peristeri. In the 93rd minute, Tsintotas rushed outside his penalty area to catch up with Samatta, but his clearance went only as far as the Greek midfielder. Konstantelias didn’t think twice, scoring from a distance of almost 35 meters with a wonderful lob to make it 2-0.
March: In the match against Panathinaikos on Matchday 3 of the Stoiximan Super League Play Offs, Despodov was in space near the penalty spot, Rafa Soares saw him, passed the ball and the Bulagrian winger made it 1-0 with a powerful finish with the outside of his foot in the second minute of the match.
April: In the derby with AEK at the Toumba Stadium, Mr. Breeze struck twice and laid the foundations for the victory. In the 81st minute, the young ace scored with a superb finish on the move to make it 2-2, following a headed pass from Samatta which set the stands on… fire.
May: Konstantelias beat a defender with an impressive dribble, reached the penalty area and then passed to Brandon. The Spaniard, with an amazing touch, laid it off to Taison, who controlled the ball before firing a shot into Cuesta’s top right-hand corner. It was a goal that ultimately decided the championship.
July/August: In the game against Malmö at the Toumba Stadium, Konstantinos Koulierakis picked up possession almost 30 meters from the opposition goal. He decided there and then to hit an incredible shot which flew into the top left corner, leaving opposing ‘keeper Dalin with no chance to save it. It was a wonderful goal, probably the best of his career.
September: In the match at Panthessaliko against NFC Volos and specifically in the 60th minute, Taison made it 3-1 with a perfect finish after a sublime through-ball from Tissoudali.
October: In the game against OFI, PAOK won a free kick several meters outside the penalty area. Despodov did not hesitate, executing a superb effort which flew into the top-right corner of Christogeorgos’ goal.
November: Andrija Zivkovic scored an unfathomable goal in the match against Lamia. In the 59th minute, Despodov executed a set piece, the Lamia defenders cleared the ball away, but the ball ended up at the feet of Zile and he equalized with an incredible long-range effort.
December: A goal from the dreams of every player. In the game against Panserraikos, Despodov saw Gugesashvili off jis line, and he sent a superb long-range lob over the opposing ‘keeper to score one of the best goals of his career, if not the best.
