PAOK show quality and pick up three points
At a tough ground to visit, PAOK managed to make life easy fir themselves, playing good football en route to a convincing 4-1 win over Panserraikos on Matchday 14 of the 2024-25 Stoiximan Super League.
Razvan Lucescu’s team started the match in determined mood, aiming to leave no room for their opponents. And in only the fourth minute, PAOK’s lively start saw them take the lead, after being helped also by some poor communication between Davidson and Gugesashvili, with the Australian sending the ball into his own net.
The home team tried to react, but PAOK very cleverly gave the hosts space and looked for counter-attacks. And in ione such break in the eighth minute, Konstantelias carried the ball, fired in a goodshot, but his effort was saved by the Panserraikos goalkeeper.
The match became easier for PAOK within a minute. Staikos tried on two occassions to stop Taison as he looked ot break forward on the counter-attack, and he received two yellow cards and subsequently sent off. So PAOK now not only had the lead, but also had a numerical advantage.
In the 28th minute, Konstantelias produced a great piece of play, but his shot hit the post. In the end, the second goal came in the 36th minute and it was a fantastic strike.
Kiril Despodov collected the ball in midfield, saw Gugesashvili out of position and scored with an incredible long-range shot to make it 2-0.
In the second half, for about 20 minutes, Gugesashvili was the absolute protagonist, as he made some great saves to maintain the two-goal margin, until Baba came in the 65th minute to score the third from Otto’s pass.
The tempo of the game did not drop, as Panserraikos looked for a goal to get back into the game, and they found it with Salazar beating Kotarski at teh second attempt in the 77th minute, while the epilogue of the match was written by Shola Shoretire , who combined perfectly with Chalov to score for the final 4-1 scoreline in the 87th minute.
