PAOK begins new collab with Opta

PAOK is the latest in a rapidly growing list of football clubs turning to Stats Perform’s Opta Vision data to ensure a competitive advantage over their domestic and continental rivals.

09.08.2024

The 2023-24 Stoiximan Super League Greek champions have agreed a three-year deal with Stats Perform, the leading sports technology company in predictive data and artificial intelligence, to become the first club in Greece to use the ground-breaking data system, which provides new and critical insights to enhance squad and player planning and performance analysis processes across world football.

Opta Vision’s AI technology is a game-changing innovation, with analysts able to get a complete picture of a match and prepare team-specific tactics from dozens of leagues and competitions worldwide, as well as seamlessly sync event recording and remote monitoring.

PAOK analysts will also be able to use Opta Vision’s fitness data to help outline the key player prospects they are considering. Opta Vision will allow them to compare the high-intensity performances of players in key European and other global football markets to ensure that the players selected perfectly match the team’s playing profile in terms of fitness.

A third key advantage that facilitates PAOK analysts and scouts is the conversion of data into meaningful information. PAOK staff will be able to review Opta Vision data using Stats Perform’s ProVision platform, where they will be able to create their own customized metrics and data reports powered by their own custom KPI’s. ProVision will also allow them to present information and performance trends directly to players, coaching staff and other key stakeholders using a range of engaging data visualizations.

Christos Karypidis, PAOK’s Technical Director, said: «After considering all available options, we came to the conclusion that the combination of Opta Vision and ProVision data can offer our analysts the most comprehensive solution for the development of our activities in the field of scouting and performance analysis. It will allow us to incorporate fitness data into transfer planning, detect changes in a team’s playing shape during a game and optimize analysis of opponents and better understand a player’s movements on the ball. The information will be more usable by coaches and players and not just sitting on an analyst’s hard drive. Opta Vision gives us a much more detailed understanding of players’ strengths and weaknesses as a season progresses.»
