Another hugely successful «Panagiotis Katsouris» tournament concludes [with pictures]
Give a child some space, light and a ball, and just drink in the joy… Last weekend we experienced some wonderful moments at PAOK with the elite “Panagiotis Katsouris” tournament, which honors the memory of one of our own youngsters who was lost too soon.
At the premises of Souroti, PAOK welcomed around 30 groups of young players aged between 13 and 15 from all over Europe, from Greece and Cyprus, who played football, listened to music, got to know Thessaloniki and our hospitality, and on Sunday evening took their seats at Toumba Stadium to watch the PAOK – AEK derby.
It is the first time that the «Panagiotis Katsouris» tournament has essentially turned into an international tournament, with the participation of teams such as Newcastle, Bochum, Partizan, Red Star, Exeter, Randers, Osterhut, Juniorul, AEK Larnaca , AEL Limassol, and Omonia Nicosia. Also participating were Panathinaikos, Panaitolikos, Panionios, NFC Volos, Makedonikos, as well as Agia Paraskevi Volos, Agia Anna Volos, Arsaklis, Atsalenios, Beppides, Atromitos Larissas, PAOK Komotini, PAOK Koilon Kozani and of course the PAOK Academy age groups from Under-15 and Under-13 categories.
The PAOK teams emerged as winners in both categories. The Under-15 side coached by Savvas Konstantinidis and Kosmas Vakoufaris beat Red Star 1-0 in the final, with Lazaridis‘ goal, while the Under-13 team coached by Lefteris Kanata beat Bochum on penalties.
See you next year!
