PAOK slip to late defeat [with pictures]

An enthralling match at the Alcazar full of passion, tension and emotions ended in a narrow 3-2 defeat late on for PAOK B against AEL on Matchday 17 of the Betsson Super League 2.

The game started in the worst possible way for the Double-headed Eagle’s second string. AEL sprang a surprise by taking the lead after just two minutes through Ogboe.

The visitors quickly responded, however, and started looking for an equaliser. And it duly came in the 16th minute. Chatzistravos was fouled by Souloukos following a corner kick and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Bradonijc stepped up to convert the penalty to make the score 1-1.

Three minutes later though, the hosts found the back of the net again. Ogboe was again the man on target, this time scoring with a header after a free-kick to make it 2-1 to the home side. But the lead didn’t last long. In the 27th minute, Bradonijć once again was on hand to pull his team level. Chatzistravos started the move, passing to Panidis, who with an excellent pass sent his Bosnian teammate through on goal against Souloukos, with the PAOK B man making it 2-2 with a flawless finish. The visitors had a chance to go in front five minutes before half=time, but home ‘keeper Souloukos was o hand to deny Bradonijć a hat-trick.

In the first minutes of the second half, PAOK B started better and pressed for a goal mainly from the left flank, but without any success. As the clocked ticked down, the pace of the match dropped, but then the final 10 minutes saw both teams going through all kinds of emotions.

In the 84th minute, Spyridis was brought down in the penalty area by Thomaidis, but from the resulting spot-kick which was awarded by the referee, Souloukos thwarted Gordeziani.

Four minutes later the scene was repeated but at the other end. And this time AEL made no mistake from their penalty kick, with Ogboe scoring to complete his hat-trick, and give his team the win and all three points.
