A turnaround of the… turnaround for PAOK B

Although less dominant than we are used to, PAOK B were as effective as they needed to be in the end to beat Diagoras in Rhodes by a 3-2 scoreline and chalk up four consecutive victories, which moved them onto 13 points, and keeps them top of their group after Matchday 5 of the Betsson Super League 2.

04.12.2022

PAOK started the game with an attacking intent, even managing to win a penalty through Panidis in the 17th minute, which Bradonijć executed perfectly to make it 1-0 to the black and whites. That brought a reaction from the home team, but without them actually threatening the Double-headed Eagle goal, and so PAOK went into the dressing rooms at half-time with a one-goal lead.

Two minutes after the start of the second half, however, Diagoras equalized, specifically in the 47th minute via a Tatsis shot. They then went on to move infront in the 60th minute, with Parastatidis scoring from a powerful shot. PAOK looked anxious after that goal, but still managed to regroup and level matters in the 69th minute, with Tzimas successfully find the back of the net from the rebound after a shot from Spyrakos had come back off the post. The Double-headed Eagle were then persistent in their attacking threats thereafter, and made another breakthrough in the 84th minute. Spirakos passed to Tzimas, and he directed the ball goalwards. His effort hit the post, but thankfully Bradonijć was there to score and make it 3-2 to PAOK from the rebound.

And so PAOK managed to pick up another hard-fought and difficult victory, and the squad are now already preparing for their next game, against Iraklis Larisas in Efkarpia.

Team lineups:

GS Diagoras: Galanis, Magkakis, Tatsis, Maniotis, Karamanis, Boubas (85′ Economakos), Parastatidis, Tsiantoulas, Laywell, Petrakis, Gata (61′ Bourgountzis).

PAOK B: Monastirlis, Tasiouras, Giaxis, Panagiotou (70′ Tsopouroglou), Moricceli, Ouedraogo, Grosdis (63′ Ninua), Bradonijc (89′ Darelas), Smyrlis (46′ Spyrakos), Chatzistravos, Panidis (63′ Tzimas).
