PAOK entered the game rather sluggishly, and as a result they conceded a goal in only the second minute, with Stamatis side-footing home nicely from Balogiannis’s cross. The hosts continued with more confidence, while at the same time the visitors tried to find a route to goal without success. In fact, PAOK contrived to concede a second goal in the 39th minute, with Karamokos making it 2-0 before half-time.

The Double-headed Eagle were more organized in the second half, reducing the deficit in the 52nd minute when Ouendraogo played in Tzimas, who made it 2-1 with a nice shot into the right corner. PAOK contrinued to threaten, and they had a few chances to equalize, however the hosts managed to hold on to their lead, albeit with some over-zealous challenges and hard tackling which led to tempers flaring among both sets of players towards the end.

Finally, the game ended after seven minutes of added time due to delays from both sides caused by a smattering of cards handed out by the referee.

Team lineups:

Apollon Larissa: Astras, Kalousis, Skoupra, Timboue, Vigia (80′ Petrakis), Balogiannis (92′ Ziakas), Chatzis, Karamoko (87 ‘ Potosoglou), Stamatis, Litainas, Loukas
