Under-19s suffer late defeat [with pictures]
PAOK’s Under-19 side slipped to defeat by Aris in the Thessaloniki derby in Pylaia, a result which effectively ended their hopes of catching now-champions Panathinaikos in what was the penultimate match of the season.
The hosts scored in the fourth minute of added time to claim the victory by a 1-0 scoreline in a tense and dynamic matych that kept the intrigue undiminished until the final whistle. PAOK wanted it more, and they had chased goals throghout the game. They had most of the cleat scoring opportunities, which came mainly in the first half, however they were not effective and efficient in front of goal and paid for their profligacy in the last moments.
Now there is just one match left before the end of the championship with PAOK traveling to Athens to face Apollon Smyrnis. The destination of the title, of course, was decided today. This season the title belongs to Panathinaikos.
PAOK lineup:
Monastirlis, Tasiouras, Kitsakis, Zilo, Tsiakoumis, Tsikos, Spyrakos (69′ Gitersos), Rumiantsev, Babouras, Kalogiros (69′ Kottas), Smyrlis.
