30.01.2022

PAOK now have 30 points, four behind first-placed Panathinaikos, who they welcome to Souroti next Saturday.

The game against Olympiacos in Souroti featured strong duels and very few clear but chances at either end. The home side were slightly better and more dangerous, as they were much more mobile. PAOK were also rarely threatened, while the hosts had a couple of decent opportunities that were not transformed into goals. The Double-headed Eagle won a penalty thanks to Spyrakos in the 26th minute, but unfortunately Tsikos failed to convert it.

The winning goal did eventually come when Smyrlis entered proceedings from the bench. Taking advantage of Babouras’ excellent turn and cross, he made it 1-0 in the 67th minute.

Smyrlis in fact did have another chance to score a second goal late on, but he failed to find the target.

PAOK lineup:

Monastirlis, Tassiouras (75′ Kitsakis), Deligiannis, Melenikiotis, Zilo, Tsikos, Spyrakos (87′ Garnetas), Kalogiros, Bambouras, Darelas (75′ Goumas), Kedikoglou (59′ Smyrlis).
