Happy Birthday Douglas!

Our midfielder Douglas Augusto turns 25 today, and PAOK FC would like to wish him many years of health, happiness and successes on both a personal and professional level.

13.01.2022

Douglas Augusto Soares Gomes was born in Rio de Janeiro on January 13, 1997. Coming from a poor family, at an early age he saw football as a way out of his situation, and at seven years of age he joined the youth academy of Fluminense.

He progressed through the youth teams up to Under-20 level and won the title with the team in 2015 and was also the top goalscorer with 15 goals. During the same season he made his debut for the full senior side, who he was already also training with.

He immediately became a first-time regular and his talent was recognized more widely when he was called up to the Brazil Under-20 side. In 2016 he won the Brazilian top flight with Fluminense.

His performances convinced Corinthians to sign him. He immediately settled well in his new surroundings, although the changes in coach at the club at the time saw him leave to join Bahia on loan. He also became an instant hit there, and after seven appearances for the club PAOK came calling to bring him to Thessaloniki.

At the Double-headed Eagle, the Brazilian midfielder has made 70 appearances, scoring six goals and contributing seven assists, while he has also won one Greek Cup.
