PAOK B earn draw in Igoumenitsa [pictures]
PAOK B’s solid away form continued on Sunday as they avoided defeat for a fourth successvie away match in a row, coming away from their match against Thesprotos in Igoumenitsa with a 1-1 draw.
The hosts went ahead, but the Double-headed Eagle equalized through Gordeziani and even lost the opportunity to take all three points via the same player on 81 minutes when he failed to convert a good scoring chance.
Overall, teh match was played out in midfield, with both teams looking to pass the ball around as miuch as possible but without taking too many risks and without threatening the goalkeepers, with the possible exception of two good shots from Panidis in the 13th and 20th minutes, and a decent free-kick from Koulierakis.
In the second half, however, Thesprotos won a penalty just five minute in to the second period, when Stergiou was fouled. The spot-kick was converted by Sarantidis. PAOK B responded almost immediately, however, with Gordeziani – who had come on as a substitute – capitalising on a pass from Chatzistravos to equalize.
The match ended with two good opportunities for both sides. In the 71st minute, Ramires missed from close range for the home side, and in the 81st minute, PAOK B goalcorer Gordeziani side-footed his effort wide with the opposting goalkeeper bearing down on him.
PAOK B’s next game is against Kavala on December 29, at the Makedonikos Stadium.
It is worth noting that before the kick-off of the match, Thesprotos presented Pablo Garcia with a special award for his contribution to Greek football.
